The Santos de Cartier is among the Cartier elegant classic timepieces. The first Santos watch was designed in 1904 by Louis Cartier for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont who was an aviator. Alberto wanted to know what the time was without having to let go his “flying machine.” In 1906, people were fascinated and admired the timepiece when Alberto disembarked from his plane and looked at his wrist for a time-check. The Tank collection is the legendary and most recognizable of all Cartier watches. Its design was inspired by the allied tanks that were used to defend Franc in World War II.
